Tabling of ACCC report on Telstra’s compliance

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Coonan today tabled the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) report on Telstra’s compliance with the Price Control Arrangements for 2003-04

“The report is part of the current price control arrangements the Australian Government has applied to Telstra,” Senator Coonan said.

“The price controls require Telstra to pass on the benefits of productivity and efficiency gains to the consumer in the form of lower prices for telecommunication services.”

The report indicates that Telstra has adequately complied with the price controls over the 2003-04 period.

As part of the price control regulation the ACCC produce an annual report on the adequacy of Telstra’s compliance with the price controls over the previous financial year.

A copy of the report is available online at www.accc.gov.au.
