279,000 FAMILIES TO BE WORSE OFF UNDER TURNBULL GOVERNMENT CHILDCARE POLICY

Reports yesterday of the Turnbull Government trying to spruik its childcare package fails to mention the 279,000 families who will be worse off under its policy.

It was only recently revealed by officials from the Department of Education in Senate Estimates that, according to their own new modelling, 279,000 families will be worse off under the Turnbull Government’s package.

More alarmingly, the Government’s own figures reveal 88,000 families in the lowest income bracket - up to $65,710 of the combined family income - will be worse off. This is the most of any cohort.

At the same time as 279,000 families will be worse off under its childcare changes, the Turnbull Government is giving a $65 billion tax handout to big business and multinationals.

T

his is bad news for many families as the latest Government figures show child care fees have increased by 5.7 per cent.

In the years which the Turnbull Government have been in office, there has been nothing but increase after increase in childcare costs, putting significant pressure on parents.

As the Government continues in crisis, families continue to be worse off under the Turnbull Government.
