LOCAL DRUG ACTION TEAMS ROLL OUT IN THE WIMMERA MALLLEE AND MILDURA REGIONS.

Community groups throughout the Wimmera Mallee and Mildura regions are

tackling regional drug and alcohol issues head on with three Local Drug Action

Teams (LDAT) announced.

The Wycheproof Community Resource Centre have formed the Wycheproof and

Sea Lake LDAT, Grampian Community Health have formed the Central

Grampians LDAT and the Northern Mallee Community Partnership have formed

the Northern Mallee LDAT.

Federal Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said each successful LDAT will receive

an initial $10,000 in funding to deliver support services throughout their Local

Government Area.

“The funding will support local teams delivering health promotion, community-led

education and mentoring programs as well as early intervention and prevention

programs,” he said.

“Community response to issues such as drug and alcohol misuse is one of the

best ways to effectively prevent and reduce the harms caused by drugs, it’s great

to see the groups form to actively make a different in their communities.”

LDATS are a key part of the Governments National Ice Action Strategy which is

investing $298 million over four years to combat illicit drug and alcohol use.
