PYNE MARITIME INDUSTRY COLLEGE PLAN SECURES ZERO JOBS FOR AUSTRALIANS

Christopher Pyne has finally recognised his government has failed to make sure Australia has the skills to build ships we need for our country's security. It’s a shame it’s taken him so long to get there.

There’s only one problem: where are the jobs?

The bald truth is the Turnbull government is cutting jobs from ASC Pty Ltd, not adding them.

Here’s another truth: these cuts are because the Turnbull government neglected local industry. The ‘Valley of Death’ which has cost Australia nearly 1,000 jobs due to the Government’s inability to deliver national ship-building projects for local industry, was created by the Liberal government’s decision not to build our new supply ships here.

Today’s announcement won't guarantee a single job for a single automotive worker this year - or any year.

Now that the minister has recognised his government has utterly failed on skills, it's time he admitted he’s utterly failed on jobs.
