The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad, has announced that the Swifts Football

Netball Club has been successful in its application for funding under Round One of

the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP), for its Emergency Relief Kitchen

“Sport is a great way of bringing people together and the Swifts Club has a proud

history of doing that for the Stawell community but this project addresses more than

the value of sport in regional areas.

“The Emergency Relief Kitchen supports the entire community and emergency

service personnel in times of crisis, such as bushfire, so I’m delighted to be able to

announce that the Club will receive $20,000.00 via the Stronger Communities

Programme to improve their facilities.

“The funding will be directed toward the upgrading of kitchen equipment at the club,

making it better able to host functions and to serve its community in an emergency.

“This is precisely the kind of project that the SCP seeks to support and the Swifts

Club submitted a detailed application and is thoroughly deserving of the funding.

“The Committee should be commended for its efforts and I look forward to seeing the

project completed.”

The Swifts Football Netball Club applied for funding under the Stronger Communities

Programme, which was one of the initiatives to come out of the 2015 Federal Budget,

to assist with regional development.

The Programme aims to support smaller, community based projects.

A number of groups across the Wimmera and Mallee lodged successful applications

and further announcements are expected in the coming days.
