Local Answers funding boost for local community projects

The Commonwealth Government is providing $233,981 to be shared by two local community organisations under the Local Answers Program, Federal Member for Cunningham, Sharon Bird, announced today.

“Each community project is in response to local community needs, including early intervention parenting support, support for volunteering, mentoring and playgroups for children.

“I am very pleased that as part of the Local Answers Program, Illawarra Children’s Services and Healthy Cities Illawarra will benefit from sharing total funding of $233,981 of Commonwealth Government funding assistance to deliver quality services over the next 12-months”, Ms Bird said.

Funding details are as follows:

� $190,931.00 for Illawarra Children’s Services for families in Corrimal and Bellambi to help improve health and wellbeing of children, including conducting playgroup activities.

� $43,050.00 for Healthy Cities Illawarra to assist fathers in their parenting roles, including developing skills and knowledge beneficial to their children’s development.

Ms Bird said these two local community projects are among 220 projects across Australia to receive funding under the Local Answers Program.
