Directory of Services for Older People 2010 available

The Commonwealth Government has today launched a Directory of Services for Older People 2010, Federal Member for Cunningham, Sharon Bird, said.

The free directory provides important information for older people and their families with chapters covering access to aged care services, legal rights, finances, health and lifestyle.

“The Commonwealth Government provides an extensive network of services offering assistance to older people.

“The 2010 directory will help older people and their families obtain the services that best meet their needs”, Ms Bird said.

The Directory of Services for Older People 2010 provides easy to read information, providing a summary of the service, and relevant contact details.

This year the directory has been printed with spiral binding, larger type to make it easier to read, and tabs to help make finding the relevant section of information quicker.

Copies of the Directory of Services for Older People 2010 may be obtained by contacting the Aged Care Information Line on 1800 500 853, Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222, or through the local Centrelink office.

An on-line version of the Directory is also available from the Department of Health and Ageing website www.health.gov.au
