SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON GEORGE BOOTH DRIVE COMPLETED

Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon and Member for Cessnock, Kerry Hickey said safety improvements were completed in late September on George Booth Drive at Buchanan.

“The Federal Government provided $620,000 from the Nation Building Stimulus Package to improve safety at this location,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.

“Work has been completed on a 300 metre section of George Booth Drive, about 600 metres north of Richmond Vale Road, at Buchanan.”

“Both the road and shoulders have been widened and the shoulders sealed through this section, to improve safety for motorists and heavy vehicles on this busy road.”

“The work also included signposting and linemarking improvements.”

“These improvements on George Booth Drive are in response to the crash history at this location,” he said.

“This is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to improving road safety in the Hunter Valley,” Mr Hickey said.

“The RTA has now completed three Nation Building blackspot projects on George Booth Drive in 2010,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.
