LABOR COMMITS TO UPGRADE OF DAYLESFORD’S VICTORIA PARK Friday, 23 August 2013

The Rudd Labor Government today announced $1.25 million for a new multi-purpose community facility at Daylesford’s Victoria Park, building on its pledge to support strong, prosperous regional and local communities.

Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, said she was proud to announce the funding, both as local member and the Minister for Regional Australia, Local Government and Territories.

“I have closely followed progress on the development of this proposal and am delighted that Labor can now commit to funding such an important project for the people of Daylesford and Hepburn Shire,” Ms King said.

“Unlike the Liberals, Labor is serious about investing in regional and local communities and helping them to meet future challenges and opportunities.

“This new multi-purpose, multi-use community facility featuring environmentally sustainable design is exactly what the community of Daylesford and district needs.

“The facilities at Vic Park have served the community well for many years, but I know they are looking and feeling a little run down now and I am proud Labor has been able to provide this support towards the $2.5 million project.

“Only the re-election of a Labor Government can ensure this commitment is fulfilled. There is no commitment for the project from the Liberals.”

The funds for the project are from the latest round of the Regional Development Australia Fund. Funding for this project is already included in the budget.

“These projects come on top of the Rudd Labor Government’s record investment in regional Australia, including the National Plan for School Improvement, the National Broadband Network and the Roads to Recovery program - all of which are helping to secure the future of regional communities,” Ms king said.
