Michael Keenan MP - Federal Member for Stirling National Police Remembrance Day September 28, 2012

National Police Remembrance Day is a time to commemorate and remember those police officers who have lost their lives in the line of police duty, Shadow Minister for Justice, Customs and Border Protection Michael Keenan said.

“Today I would like to encourage all Australians to take a moment to remember those brave police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice whilst protecting our community,” Mr Keenan said.

“We, as Australians, will always be indebted and grateful for the courage and dedication that these officers have shown and our thoughts and prayers are with their families.

“Our communities rely on the critical and exceptional work police officers do to make our neighbourhoods safer places to work and live. The work they undertake is often dangerous, confronting and unpredictable and requires great courage and bravery each and every day.

“Today also serves as a reminder of what our police forces are facing in their line of duty and it is vital that we acknowledge and thank them for the sacrifices that they make every day to protect us,” Mr Keenan said.
