ADSL technology now available in Bellingen

Federal Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, has welcomed the launch of the ADSL broadband lines in Bellingen, which will provide faster access to the Internet over standard telephone lines.

Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is now available to Bellingen businesses and residents following an upgrade of services by Telstra.

“I know there have been many requests from the Bellingen area for access to ADSL and Telstra Countrywide are to be congratulate for responding to that demand,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“ADSL dramatically increases the speed in which data is transferred which will make accessing all forms of information so much easier.”

The installation of ADSL in Bellingen coincides with the launch of the same service in Nambucca Heads.”

“Improving access to technology is crucial to the people of rural and regional Australia,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“In this instance businesses can transmit and receive data in real time which has significant benefits for those who rely on effective telecommunications for their customer service.

“What makes the Telstra ADSL service more attractive is that there are no additional phone lines required. No waiting time for connection, no engaged tone and no line drop outs.”

In most cases ADSL is up to 30 times faster than standard dial up services and customers can make phone calls while still using the ADSL service.
