SYDNEY - ( February 14) - Northwest Airlines and AIR NEW ZEALAND have

signed an international marketing agreement effective 1 March, 1995, under

which AIR NEW ZEALAND will participate in Northwest’s Wo rid Perks frequent

flyer programme, and the two carriers will offer joint fares, share sales support

and airport facilities.

Air New Zealand's recent move to new facilities in Terminal 2 at Los Angeles

International Airport (October 1994) where Northwest is located, will

streamline operations and transfers between the airlines.

The partnership will offer fares to 80 cities served by Northwest Airlines in the

United States. The airlines will provide sales support for each other’s

connecting flights. Additionally the airtines’ customers will have reciprocal

airport lounge access when travelling on a First or Business Class ticket on

Northwest/A IR NEW ZEALAND connecting flights.

Members of Northwest’s WorldPerks frequent flyer programme will earn credit

on AIR NEW ZEALAND’S new Sydney-Los Angeles non-stop flights

(commenced November 1994) and all AIR NEW ZEALAND services between

Australia and the USA.

WorldPerks members can also earn mileage credits by travelling on

AIR NEW ZEALAND flights between Australia and Asia, Australia and Japan,

Asia and New Zealand and Japan and New Zealand.

attractive route system. The new agreement significantly enhances the range

of destinations and benefits we offer to our customers who travel in the South

Pacific Region.

Northwest and AIR NEW ZEALAND plan to expand the scope of their

marketing agreement in the near future to offer more benefits to the travelling


WorldPerks members will earn 14,974 frequent flyer miles for round-trip travel

on AIR NEW ZEALAND'S non-stop services between Sydney and Los

Angeles. Economy Class passengers; will accrue 100 percent of the actual

mileage flown, Business Class 125 percent of actual miles flown, and First

Class 150 percent of actual mileage flown.
