'Penthouse' Cabins for Brisbane Holiday Village 30 March 2012

Visitors to the award winning and T-QUAL accredited Brisbane Holiday Village will soon be able to enjoy luxurious three bedroom cabins with the help of a $100,000 investment by the Australian Government.

The dollar-for-dollar grant was made under the T-QUAL Grants - Tourism Quality Projects program which last year provided nearly $8.5 million to 117 projects across the country, including 32 in Queensland.

The Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP, had a "sneak peak" of the project, viewing today the plans for concept and design of the innovative three bedroom Penthouse Cabins.

Minister Ferguson said the Brisbane Holiday Village is an example of the kind of quality improvement to tourism the Australian Government would like to see more of.

“This latest upgrade comes on the back of numerous improvements at the Brisbane Holiday Village and is more than new cabins - it’s an investment in the local economy as it draws more tourists to the area.”

In 2011, 5.8 million visitors spent 33.2 million nights in the Brisbane tourism region. Of these, Australian travellers spent on average $502 each and international visitors spent $1,680.

Total domestic expenditure in the Brisbane tourism region was $2.5 billion in 2011.

The 2012 round of T-QUAL Grants - Tourism Quality Projects is open until 19 April 2012 for applications. Grants of up to $100,000 are available for projects across Australia that add value to local tourism industries and give more people more reason to visit.
