THE HON NICOLA ROXON MP Attorney-General Minister for Emergency Management

SENATOR THE HON KIM CARR Minister for Human Services

Residents of the township of Ungarie who were severely affected by flooding earlier this year can now claim Commonwealth Government assistance of $1000 for each adult and $400 for each child.

Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Nicola Roxon said that the payments will provide an extra level of support to help Ungarie residents with their recovery.

“It’s clear that residents of the township of Ungarie have done it tough with a large proportion of homes and businesses flooded and many residents evacuated,” Ms Roxon said.

“This assistance recognises the particular circumstances that Ungarie has faced and will go some way in helping this community get back on its feet.

“This payment is over and above the financial and practical support already being provided by the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements”.

Minister for Human Services Senator Kim Carr encouraged people to access the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP).

“I urge people directly affected by the floods to access this assistance,” Senator Kim Carr said.

“This year has been challenging for many Ungarie families. It’s our job to ensure help is made available to those who need it.” Affected residents do not have to lodge the claim in person. The easiest way to lodge a claim is online at or by calling the Australian Government Information Line on 180 22 66 from 8am to 5pm local time, five days per week.

Completed claim forms can also be lodged in person at a Commonwealth Department of Human Services service centre. For more information is available at .
