YET AGAIN LABOR REFUSES TO RULE OUT TAX HIKES

Yet again, Treasurer Wayne Swan has refused to rule out new or increased taxes to fund the government’s ever increasing unfunded spending commitments on border protection, education and disability services

The Treasurer said:

“We can make the savings in our Budget to fund our Labor priorities and of course that is what we have been doing.” (Source: Wayne Swan, Question Time, 22 August 2012)

But Labor has not been finding the savings. Of the $33 billion of ‘savings’ in the 2012-13 Budget, $16 billion was from new or increased taxes.

The Treasurer was so bereft of detail that all he could do was talk about the Opposition.

The Treasurer must immediately come clean with his plans for new or increased taxes and levies.

Only the Coalition will deliver lower, fairer and simpler taxes.
