A young RAN lieutenant- dzo began his Naval career

as an apprentice and has since gained a degree in electrical

engineering with first class honours has been awarded two

years post graduate study in England,

He is Lieutenant J0D, Ridler (24) of Elimbah, Queensland, the first PAN officer to be offered post graduate

study as a Naval student,,

Lieutenant Ridler enteric. the RAN Apprentice Training

Establishment HMAS NIRIMBA, Quaker's Hill, in 1963 and was selected as a Topman (outstanding sailor) to go to the Junior

Recruit Training Establishment RMAS LEEU, W WIN, West Australia=

He matriculated at LEEUWIN with five distinctions

and in 1965 he was selected for promotion to Cadet Midshipman for further training at the RAN Naval College; HIIVIAS CRESS {,LL.

Ater graduating from CRESVTELL, he went to the Royal

Navy Engineering College, at Manadons England, where he obtained his bachelor of science (engineering) with first class

honours in University of London examinations,

He has now been offered two years of post graduate

study at Imperial College of the University of London'

The Australian Naval Board has sent him congratulations

on his achievement,
