Advertising - Let the facts speak for themselves

Special Minister of State Gary Gray said today Opposition finance spokesman Andrew Robb must have had a memory blank in criticising Federal Government advertising.

“Mr Robb criticises campaign advertising spending of less than $117 million in 2010-11,” Mr Gray said. “Let the facts speak - in the last year of the Howard Government, they burned $250 million alone on the same type of advertising.

“The current Labor Government has slashed spending, not increased it. “Can anyone forget the high-rolling Howard years when they spent over $118 million on the GST campaign and wasted $84 million on WorkChoices? Yesterday, Mr Robb said taxpayers had a “right to be angry” over the current level of advertising. He said there was “simply no justification for the levels of spending on advertising we have seen from the Gillard government”.
