AUSTRALIAN EGG BOARD — CHAIRMAN

FOR

I NDUSTRY

The Minister for Primary Industry, Mr. Anthony, said tod•^y that he had recommended to the Executive Council the appointment of Mr. J. Douglas as Chairman of the Australian Egg Board.

Mr. Douglas, who is a commerial egg producer and an

elected member of the New South Wales Egg Board, has been a member of the Australian Egg Board for the last six years.

Mr. Anthony said : "The knowledge acquired by Mr. Douglas of the Australian egg industry in the local and export marketing field was recognised by his recent election to succeed Colonel

McArthur as President of the Council of Egg Marketing Authorities

of Australia.

"His wide experience will be of great value in his new position and I am confident the appointment will receive the support of the whole of the egg industry in Australia.

"The vacancy in the chairmanship of the Board was caused by

the resignation of Mr. A.L. McDonald, who has taken up a new position which will prevent him from carrying on as Chairman."

Mr. Anthony said that, during his period on the Board and as a member of the Council of Egg Marketing Authorities, Mr. McDonald

had contributed much to the welfare of the Australian egg industry.
