AUSTRALIAN AGRICULTURAL COUNCIL THANKS TO NEff GUINEA HOSTS

The Australian Agricultural Council at its two-day

meeting which ended in Mt. Hagen this afternoon expressed its thanks

to the people of the Western Highlands for their hospitality to the

Council.

The Acting Chairman of the Council, Mr. Nixon, asked the

Minister for External Territories to convey to the people of

New Guinea the appreciation of the Council and the Standing Committee

on Agriculture for the arrangements made for the meetings held at

the Mt. Hagen Council Chambers.

Ministers expressed their interest in being able to visit

several parts of the Highlands to see the agricultural development

taking place. They asked Mr. Barnes to tell the local people of

their great pleasure at meeting many of them and discussing with

them the many problems involved in the Territory's growth.
