Families and seniors in regional Australia face challenges brought about by remoteness and difficulty in accessing services that are readily available to those in major capital cities. The Nationals recognise the importance of the balance between work and family and that regional families have a greater reliance on government services than their city counterparts. Our quality of life must be maintained and we all have the right to feel safe in our homes and in our communities.

• Commit an additional $89.25 million towards increased childcare measures including more childcare places in regional Australia.

• Provide financial support for grandparents where grandchildren are placed in their care.

• Increased funding for remote area services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of the Air.

• Increase funds for regional youth programs to address issues such as drug and alcohol abuse.

• Support the introduction of a national disability insurance support scheme.

• Provide greater financial, personal and community support for carers, recognising the particular difficulties often faced by those in regional Australia.
