Purpose

Background Section
66
of the Constitution provides
that
there
shall
be
payable out of the Consolidated
Revenue
Fund,
for
the
salaries
of the Ministers of
State,
an annual
sum
which,
until the Parliament otherwise provides, shall not exceed twelve thousand
pounds
a
year.
The
Bill pro

an
increase in the financial
limit
from
$350,000
to
$400,000.
The
amendment
follows
the
decision
of
the
Government
to accept the
recommendations
in the
1980
Review
by the
Remuneration
Tribunal.
