A Bill for an Act to impose the overseas debtors repayment levy, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Student Loans (Overseas Debtors Repayment Levy) Act 2015 .
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

1. The whole of the Act |
At the same time as Schedule 1 to the Education Legislation Amendment (Overseas Debt Recovery) Act 2015 commences. |

In this Act:
income year has the meaning given by subsection 995-1(1) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 .
overseas debtors repayment levy means levy payable under:
(a) section 154-16 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 ; or
(b) section 47A of the Trade Support Loans Act 2014 .
Overseas debtors repayment levy is imposed.
The amount of a person’s overseas debtors repayment levy is equal to the amount payable by the person under section 154-16 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 or section 47A of the Trade Support Loans Act 2014 , as the case requires.
