A Bill for an Act to amend the Workplace Relations Act 1996 so far as that Act relates to termination of employment, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Workplace Relations Amendment (Termination of Employment) Act 2000 .
2 Commencement
(1) This section, and sections 1 and 3, commence on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.
(2) Subject to subsections (3) and (4), the remaining provisions of this Act commence on a day or days to be fixed by Proclamation.
(3) Subject to subsection (4), if a provision of this Act does not commence under subsection (2) within the period of 6 months beginning on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent, it commences on the first day after the end of that period.
(4) If:
(a) the Workplace Relations Amendment (Australian Workplace Agreements Procedures) Act 2000 ; or
(b) the Workplace Relations Amendment (Secret Ballots for Protected Action) Act 2000 ;
has commenced before:
(c) a day fixed by Proclamation for the commencement of item 3 of Schedule 1 to this Act under subsection (2); or
(d) in the absence of such a Proclamation—that item would commence under subsection (3);
that item does not commence at all.

Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
