Summary

Amends the: Migration Act 1958 to: establish a time limit of 90 days for the making of protection visa decisions by the Minister and the review of those decisions by the Refugee Review Tribunal; and permit the disclosure of personal identifying information to the public to assist with identifying or locating persons in connection with the administration of the Act; Complaints (Australian Federal Police) Act 1981, Migration Act 1958, Ombudsman Act 1976 and proposed Postal Industry Ombudsman Act 2005 to introduce measures for the Commonwealth Ombudsman to support and facilitate the Ombudsman’s role in immigration and detention matters; and Migration Act 1958 and Migration Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 2001 as a consequence of the commencement of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003.
