Migration Amendment (Repairing Medical Transfers) Bill 2019

 

 

(1)     Schedule 1, item 8, page 4 (after line 2), insert:

8A  At the end of Subdivision B of Division 8 of Part 2

Add:

198AK   Report on transitory persons resettled in non-regional processing countries

             (1)  This section applies if a transitory person is resettled in a country (the third country ) other than Australia or a regional processing country.

             (2)  As soon as practicable after becoming aware of the person, the Minister must cause a report to be prepared.

             (3)  The report must include the following information:

                     (a)  the person’s age;

                     (b)  the person’s gender;

                     (c)  the person’s country of birth;

                     (d)  the regional processing country (the relevant regional processing country ) the person was residing in immediately before being resettled in the third country;

                     (e)  the period of time the person had been in the relevant regional processing country;

                      (f)  the third country the person was resettled in;

                     (g)  for each transitory person (if any) remaining in the relevant regional processing country:

                              (i)  the person’s age; and

                             (ii)  the person’s gender; and

                            (iii)  the period of time the person has been in the relevant regional processing country.

             (4)  The persons preparing the report must give the report to the Minister within 21 days after the Minister caused the report’s preparation.

             (5)  The Minister must cause a copy of the report to be tabled in each House of the Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after the report is given to the Minister.
