Senator JESSOP (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) -Can the Leader of the Government in the Senate confirm that the delay in implementing the Commonwealth Employees (Redeployment and Retirement) Act is due to difficulties associated with the managementinitiated retirement section. If so, how important are those provisions to the major objectives of the legislation? Is the Minister aware that a significant number of public servants with 30 years and more service are desirous of early retirement? As their early retirement would create many job opportunities for young people, with a substantial saving in unemployment benefit payments, can the Minister say when he anticipates the Act will be proclaimed? Finally, does the Minister agree that the implementation of that legislation would help to overcome the frustrations of young people seeking work, as well as provide promotional opportunities within the Public Service and a consequent boost to morale?

Senator CARRICK - The question Senator Jessop asked was in five parts. Whilst I have some information on the matter, I am not fully informed. I suggest that I should obtain the full information and let the honourable senator have it.
