Senator Grimes asked the Minister for Social Security, upon notice, on 18 March 1980:

(1)   What was: (a) the number; and (b) the percentage growth of invalid pensions from: (i) July 1977- June 1978; (ii) July 1978-December 1978; (iii) January 1979-June 1 979; and (iv) July 1 979-December 1 979.

(2)   What are the comparable figures for sickness benefits.

(3)   What does the Director-General of Social Security, Mr Lanigan, consider 'the normal growth in the people eligible for this benefit' vide the letter to State Directors, dated 23 May 1979.
