Senator CARRICK - In response to a question asked earlier today by Senator Sibraa, I confirm that the aircraft which took the Vice-Regal and the Government party to Lord Mountbatten 's funeral was a Boeing 707 of the Royal Australian Air Force transport squadron. I have also seen the Hansard of the Estimates Committee hearing for the Department of Defence and there appears to be a conflict. I am puzzled because I believed that Qantas Airways Ltd did not have any 707s left. Therefore I cannot understand the reason for the charter. I will seek clarification.
