Senator MULVIHILL (NEW SOUTH WALES) - I ask a question of the Leader of the Government in the Senate. In view of the plea of the Prime Minister to the States to exercise caution in their spending, will the Prime Minister draw the attention of Premier Askin to an assessment of the Jervis Bay steelworks plan appearing in the March issue of the Australian Quarterly' by Mr T. Dughteren, chartered engineer management consultant, that New South Wales would be squandering$75m of public money to prop up the inefficient sector of the United States steel industry and, in the final analysis, cause New South Wales to squander federal aid that could be spent on more laudable objectives?

Senator Sir KENNETHANDERSONI shall refer the honourable senator's question to the Prime Minister and get a reply as expeditiously as possible.
