Senator FITZGERALD (NEW SOUTH WALES) - My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Shipping and Transport. Is it correct that, after increasing liner cargo shipping freight rates from Britain and Europe to Australia by 12 per cent on the first of this month, the Australia to Europe shipping conference has now served on Austraiian exporters a demand for a return voyage surcharge of 5i per cent? What is the Government doing to protect Australia's interests in this important matter of a completely dishonest demand by the shipping companies?
