Senator MURPHY - The motion which would require this matter to be discussed on the basis of according with the decisions of the United Nations having been rejected, the Opposition will vote against the motion proposed by Senator Greenwood if it is brought to a vote, which we request be done.

Senator Greenwood - Mr President, I rise to make a personal explanation. I submit that my speech, in a very material part, was misunderstood, certainly misquoted. I did not say that the people of New Guinea were ignorant and not fit to rule.I do not think that anythingI said would fairly give rise to Senator Murphy's interpretation of what I said. I make that statement for the record.
