Senator BUTTFIELD (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for External Affairs and is supplementary to one asked by Senator Murphy concerning the Treaty on the NonProliferation of Nuclear Weapons. If Australia did sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, would we have to accept so-called inspectors from no matter what country, have no control over who these inspectors might be and be expected to pay their expenses while in Australia? Could these so-called inspectors visit and investigate any industry or mining enterprise which they might choose on the grounds that the industry or enterprise might possibly have some remote relationship with nuclear affairs?
