Senator CAVANAGH asked the Minis ter for Customs and Excise, upon notice:

1.   Is it the intention of the Government to permit the importation of high pressure gas cylinders into Australia free of tariff duties?

2.   As similar cylinders are at present manufactured by British Tube Mills in South Australia, and as any overseas supplies would threaten the livelihood of employees of this industry, will the Minister have inquiries made and take appropriate action to secure the continued employment of skilled employees now engaged in the manufacture of such cylinders?
