Senator MULVIHILL asked the Minister representing the Minister for National Development, upon notice:

1.   Has the Minister seen an article in the December 1968 issue of the Institute of Foresters of Australia Newsletter in which Mr K. W. Cremer, referring to the impact of wood chip projects on Australian forests, stated that it is obviously necessary to consider and plan in detail beforehandthe measures to be undertaken to integrate utilisation to best advantage to obtain and tend forest regeneration and preserve the other forest values including watershed, scenery, fauna and flora?

2.   Were such factors considered in the genera! approval of various wood chip projects, particularly that at Eden?

3.   With reference to Mr Cremer's statement in the same article, in relation to the Eden project, that in a very few years 100,000 acres will have been flattened, how does the Minister expect to maintain regeneration and avoid future dustbowls as the result of these wood chip projects?
