The PRESIDENT - I have to inform the Senate that, pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution, I notified the Government of the State of South Australia of the vacancy caused in the representation of that State in the Senate by the death of Senator Chapman, and that I have received through His Excellency the Governor-General a certificate of the choice of Mr. Henry Kneebone as a senator to fill such vacancy.

Certificate laid on the table and read by the Clerk.

Senator Kneebonemade and subscribed the oath of allegiance.
