Senator CHAPMAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) asked the Leader of the Government in the Seriate, upon notice -

1.   Is it correct, as reported in the press, that the Government has definitely rejected the sales tax on locally-consumed flour?

2.   Is it correct that the "Big Five", appointed by the Bruce-Page Government to inquire into the effects of the tariff, found that the increased cost of goods manufactured in Australia paid by the Australian public was £26,000,000 annually?

3.   Will the Government immediately reconsider the proposal for a bounty on wheat, in order to help the wheat-grower in this time of stress?

4.   Does the Government consider that, if the wheat-grower goes insolvent, other sections must follow, and disastrous unemployment must ensue?
