Senator GUTHRIE (VICTORIA) - I desire to ask the Assistant Minister the following questions :--

1.   Has he noticed the following statement made in Sydney last week by Mr. W. Fletcher, general secretary of the Railway Services Association, namely: - "It is clear that the Labour movement, so far as the Trades Hall section is concerned, is dominated by communists, and while my union has always respected the law and played a part in upholding it, we would refuse to be conscripted into these Moscow-dominated unions.

Some of the co-called bona fide unions are now nothing more than a menace to the workers, to society, and to Australia. Can the Government do anything to protect the unions and the Labour movement from domination by communists "?

2.   Has he seen the report in the Canberra Times oi to-day of assaults on the New South Wales police by communist rioters in Sydney?

3.   In view of the report in the same newspaper of a revolt in Russia against the Soviet Government, will this Government consider the advisability of offering a single first-class passage faro to Russia for all communists in Australia upon their entering into a bond to remain in that country and to live under the system they profess to believe in, and thus enable them to defend the system which they advocate?
