Senator H E ELLIOTT (VICTORIA) - We should do all we can to encourage them to do so. I do not know why we should make any exception even to the extent of £50 if there is nothing in the idea that children should be encouraged to honour their natural obligations. If we could in any way lessen the tendency on the part of certain people to turn to the State for assistance, the State would be very much better off. I strongly support the amendment.
