Senator DALY - The answers tothe honorable senator's questions are as follow : -

2.   A company is in process of formation at Bendigo by Mr. J. Jeffery, of thefirm of Buckell and Jeffery. It is understood that several prominent business men will become associated with this company, but, until the company is actually formed, the names of these gentlemen cannot be announced. It is also understood that another company will be established in Sydney when the Sewing Machine Bounty Bill has been passed. It is staled that Mr. James MacDougall now president of the Victorian Chamber of Manufactures, and Mr. R. M. MacDougall, member of the firm ofR. M. MacDougall & Co. Ltd., of Sydney, will be directors of the new company, Mr. James MacDougall was general manager and a director ofRylands Bros. & Co. Ltd., Newcastle, from its inception, and Mr.R. M. MacDougall was a director of that company. Both gentlemen were previously associated with the Austral Nail Company', Newcastle, prior to the establishment of Rylands Bros. & Co. Ltd. The persons who comprised the deputation on this matter in Sydney were: - B. M. MacDougall, of R. M. MacDougall & Co. Ltd., 397 Kent-street, Sydney; C. Squires, Managing Director, Malleable Castings Ltd.; T. Bower, Director, Malleable Castings Ltd., Marrickville ; and G.S. Caldwell, of Metal Trades Employers' Association. '
