Senator CARROLL asked the Minister representing the Minister for Trade and Customs, upon notice -

1.   Before prohibiting the importation of certain classes of agricultural implements and machinery into Australia, did the Government receive an assurance from Australian manufacturers that there would be no increase in the price of Australian-made implements and machinery of similar character?

2.   If so, when the assurance was given were the selling prices of locally-made implements and machinery quoted?

3.   If they were, what were the prices quoted? 4.Did the prices quoted apply to all States ; if not, to which States did they apply?
