Senator McLACHLAN (South Australia) - I join in the encomiums of the Government for having retained the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, but there is one matter concerning which I should like an explanation. I take it that the limited amount allocated for fuel investigation is due to the absence of Dr. Rivett in Europe, where he is inquiring into this matter.

I should be glad to have some information regarding the amount of £800 set down for radio research. I assume that it refers to investigations with a view to remedying fading. Isuggest that investigations along those lines might be conducted in co-operation with Amalgamated, Wireless (Australasia) Limited, which is vitally interested in that branch of science.
