Senator RAE (New South Wales) . - I understood that Senator Colebatch desired to alter the amount payable on deposit by a company seeking registration so that there should be a difference between British companies and those whichare really foreign in the ordinary acceptation of the term. The same idea is embodied in our tariff. The definition of " foreign company " in the bill is- " Foreign company " means any company which is incorporated, or the head office of which is. outside the Commonwealth.

If that definition is retained, I am afraid it will interfere with any subsequent proposed alteration.
