Senator NEEDHAM asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   What is the present system of appointing officers to positions in the Wireless Stations in Western Australia and throughout the Commonwealth ?

2.   Have the appointments hitherto been made from the permanent staff?

3.   If previous appointments have been made from the permanent staff, is it the intention of the Department to adhere to the system? 4.If not, will the Minister give reasons for the departure ?

5.   If it is the intention of the Minister to fill these positions from within the service, will he make it as widely known as possible, so as to encourage the younger officers to qualify for the positions?
