Senator RAE - Were any applications invited by the Government for the mail service between Tasmania and the mainland ; and, if not, why was not that course taken ?

Senator CLEMONS - No tenders were called for, because it was absolutely imposible to expect that any tenders would be sent in.

Senator McDougall - How do you know that?
