Senator STEWART (Queensland) . - I must take exception to this business being brought on forthwith, for the reason that the amendments may have an important bearing on the Navigation Bill. I do not know what they are.

Senator Keating - They are only drafting amendments.

Senator STEWART - That may be the case, but I do not think that honorable senators should take anything of that kind for granted.

Senator Keating - The Government have given their assurance that these are drafting amendments.

Senator STEWART - I do not think that even that is good enough, because strange things have happened before now in connexion with Bills, merely because honorable senators were indifferent, and took too much for granted. I think that the amendments should be printed and circulated.
