Senator PEARCE (Western AustraliaMinister of Defence) (Minister for Defence) . - I think that Senator St. Ledger will see that if he wishes to deal with the question of the coasting trade his remarks will come in better on the next amendment. This one deals' simply with the question of ships which are subsidized; it embodies those portions of clauses 287 and 295 which related to foreign subsidies, and which have been excised. It applies to all ship's alike, but the receipt of a subsidy from the Government of any part of the British Dominions will not be a bar to engaging in the coasting trade, subject, of course, to compliance with the prescribed conditions of the trade. I move -
