Senator O'KEEFE (Tasmania) . - I do not feel inclined to carry my objection to the length of voting against the motion, but I cannot allow it to pass without uttering a protest. I know that it is submitted in accordance with the practice of many years. As the end of the session is thought to be approaching, the time which is ordinarily allotted for private business is asked for by the Government and allowed, more or less graciously, by the Senate. I think that the idea that the session must end at a certain time because Christmas is at hand is more or less of a fetish.
