Senator PLAYFORD (South AustraliaMinister of Defence) . - If I asked honorable senators to discuss the Appropriation Bill to-morrow, I should be told that they have not had time to familiarize themselves with it.

Senator Clemons - We saw the Estimates months ago?

Senator PLAYFORD - I propose to pursue the ordinary course, and to proceed with the Electoral Validating Bill, the Customs Tariff Bill, the Excise Tariff Bill, and the Customs Tariff British Preference Bill. It is possible that we may propose some alterations in those measures, and by dealing with them in the first instance, we shall afford an opportunity for the House of Representatives to consider our requests or amendments whilst we are dealing with the Appropriation Bill.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Senate adjourned at 11.3 p.m.
