Senator HIGGS (QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister re presenting the Minister of External Affairs, upon notice -

1.   Is it true that the Government vessel Merrie England has called at Cooktown on three different occasions recently for British New Guinea official mails, and has refused to Carry public mails?

2.   What is the reason that public mails for British New Guinea are not placed on the s-s. Merrie England when that vessel visits Cooktown ?
