Travelling Expenses

Senator Col NEILD asked the Minister of Defence, upon notice -

1.   Is he aware that according to returns laid before the House of Representatives and vouchers laid before this Senate, Major-General Sir Edward Henry Thomas Hutton, C.B., K.C.M.G., late General Officer Commanding the Military Forces of the Commonwealth, was in the habit of claiming and receiving travelling expenses at the rate of Two pounds per diem, for days when he was not travelling on Commonwealth duty?

2.   Will he take action to obtain from MajorGeneral Hutton a refund of the sums so claimed and obtained ?
